RAY, CLIFFORD OSBORNE RAY, 46, died as he lived, with simple grace. He was taken home on Sunday, November 3rd after a sudden illness. He leaves his loving wife, Alicia, and two sons, Joey, 20, an Eagle Scout, and Christopher, 4, all of whom provided him with unending joy. He joins his mother, Mary Osborne Ray, in heaven, leaving his father, George E. Ray, Sr., his sisters, Mary Ray White and husband, Michael D. White, Dr. Priscilla Ray and husband, Thomas P. Sartwelle, Judge Elizabeth Ray and husband, M.S. "Frost" Haenchen, and his brother, George E. Ray, Jr. and wife, Linda K. Ray, to mourn his loss but celebrate his life. There is much to celebrate. Clifford knew what was important and lived life well. A 1982 graduate of Baylor University, he would want to be remembered primarily as a devoted husband, a great dad and a dedicated Scoutmaster. His long service to the Boy Scouts of America was recognized many times, with commendation from the President, Governor Bush, Senator Gramm and the Texas House of Representatives. Cliff loved and valued people, always finding a way to extend a helping hand. He invariably found humor, joy and light in the circumstances of life. The only gift that was denied him was a long life. Visitation: Thursday, November 7, 2002, from 5 -7 pm, Restland Funeral Home, 13305 Greenville Avenue at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243. Pallbearers are Tom Sartwelle, Phillip Reeder, Mike Prim, Steve Hedgpeth, Eddie Whitmarsh, Ed Long, Frank McKinney, Frost Haenchen. Honorary pallbearers are Boy Scout Troop 779 and Harold Savoy and the employees of Rediform. Services will be at Arapaho Road Baptist Church, 2256 Arapaho Road, Garland, Texas 75044 on Friday, November 8, 2002 at 10:00 am with burial following at Restland Memorial Park, 13305 Greenville Avenue, Richardson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ray Children School Fund at Community Credit Union, 720 East Arapaho Road, Richardson, Texas 75081. The family would also appreciate the recording of your thoughts, memories of Cliff and prayers at legacy.com.
