Chris and I had been friends for over 57 years before he passed on September 12, 2020.  We were in Mrs. Weary's second grade class at Bradfield along with Pat Hobin, Susan Carter, Susan Bell, Clyde Rimbert, and a host of other kids in September of 1963.  When my family moved back to the Park Cities in the summer of 1968 Chris and I picked up where we left off in 1964. As we got older there was a standing touch football game most every Sunday at the high school.  Chris' family lived on Druid a couple of houses off of Douglas. We would meet up at the field or Chris' house joined by Jim Castellaw, Clyde Rembert, Wyatt Moon, Jose Gonzales, Danny Haupt, Greg Tucker, and anyone else we could roundup. Chris as a good baseball player playing all four years and was on the varsity for two years. He was also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  As we got to high school we would help his parents set up for their famious annual Christmas party and bartend. Eventually becoming invitees to the party. it was during this period in my life that I found out Mr. Scott was a graduate of Sunset and was a friend of my mother. This was very important to me because my mother passed in 1962 and meeting people who knew her helped keep the memories alive. I had my mom's old high school annual and found a photograph of the varsity football team with Mr. Scott in it (he played tightend). I gave him the photo one year at their Christmas party and he was very moved (not even knowing the photo existed).  Chris graduated and went to UT after one semester he left Texas for Sam Houston and I took over his apartment and meal plan at Dobie. Chris bounced around for a few years and ended up working for his dad. Chris passed on September 12, 2020. I still talk with is mom on occasion.
