Mickey McBee

Born on December 27, 1955 in Dallas,Texas, Mickey passed away on October 12, 2024. Mickey graduated from Highland Park High School then worked as a roughneck in east Texas before joining his father at McBee Oil Company. He married his wife, Kelly, on April 30, 1983. Shortly therafter he formed W.D. McBee Management, LC through which he managed his family's oil and gas interests until his retirement. Mickey was an avid golfer, biker, swimmer, mountain climber (including Ranier and Denali), marathon runner (including New York City and Boston), skier, hiker and fisherman. In his early years his favorite past time was spending weekends fishing with his beloved "Mamo and Papo" at Coon Creek Hunting and Fishing Club. He also enjoyed countless vacations on South Padre Island with his family and friends. Above all else, Mickey adored his family. He was extremely proud of his children and their spouses and he loved each one of them unconditionally. He imparted his knowledge of the outdoors to his family on their yearly trips to Vail, Colorado where they enjoyed camping along Cross Creek, hiking, fly fishing and skiing. Mickey was looking forward to devoting all his time to his newly found passion in life- being "Papo" to his four grandchildren. They were the highlight of his final years. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Wm. D. McBee, Jr. and Elizabeth B. McBee. He is survived by his wife, Kelly, and their children- Brannin McBee (wife Meghan and daughter Sophie), Michael McBee (wife Marcey and daughter Molly) and daughter Katie Bosnick (husband Dan and sons Arthur and Nate). He is further survived by his sisters Elizabeth McBee (daughters Kathleen and Megan), Margaret Schwab (husband Carl and children John, Emmie and Maggie), Mary McBee (daughters Natalie and Emily), and brother, Billy (wife Maria and daughters Meredith and Madison). Mickey had a contagious laugh, a radiant smile, a gentle nature, a cheerful whistle and a zest for life's adventures that endeared him to many. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved and cherished his lifelong friends. Mickey will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
