Gary was known for his generous spirit. humor and concern for the community. He volunteered at the Richardson YMCA for many years and was a church choir member. Gary played a wicked banjo, and I recall singing Dixie with him and, I think, Jay Padgitt in a school assembly. He was a member of the National Honor Society, played basketball and served on the Bagpipe editorial staff. Gary was also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Texas Key Club and performed as a Singing Gypsy in the cast of Carnival.
I fondly remember Gary's wry sense of humor. Along with his great friend Randy Elkins, Gary was one of the "bad guys" contesting and always defeated by Super Scot in the hilarious pep rally skits. After high school Gary owned a successful electrical contracting business.
